buy.com ripoff video card deal ????
I ordered from buy.com a ATI 9000 PRO 64 ddr 8X video card as listed in the good deals section of resellerratings.com . Received a regular ati radeon 9000 ( slower/cheaper version ) , I rma'ed the video card back to buy.com and just received the same slower/cheaper regular radeon 9000 , again . Upon closer review of the item description , the part # listed is for a regular radeon 9000 ( ati part # 100-433010 ) , the picture is of a radeon 9000 pro ( clearly ) . In the buy.com order description ( where you send payment ) , it stated radeon 9000 pro agp 8X . BUT you receive the regular/cheaper/slower radeon 9000 . I don't think buy.com even carries the 9000 pro , ( they sure have a good picture of it though ) .

I think this thread would be in the General Discussion & Buyer Guidance.
However, I can only praise buy.com everytime I ordered from them. I just waited and got a Geforce 4 TI4200 128 meg version from newegg.

Have you tried talking to their customer service to explain why you are RMA'ing it? That might help you get your money back.

I sent a copy of the payment email showing ati radeon 9000 PRO and describing why I sent back the original video card . Buy.com is advertising a 9000 pro with picture but the description ati part # is for a regular radeon 9000 .
I too have ordered from buy.com many times over the years and always gotten what I ordered , with no problems , the times they are a changing ......

I ordered from Buy.com once. I ordered Sennheisser headphones and they sent some TDK headphones. Customer service was horrible, never used them again.

buy.com customer service referred me to some fine print that basically reads buy.com is not responsible for advertising errors . So I guess buy.com can advertise what they want and send out cheaper items and it's not their fault ?
I clicked on this deal from the GET DEALS ! section of resellerratings.com , I'm surprised they would advertise such a lowly rated vendor ?
buy.com has sent me another rma ? for what ? they don't even carry the item they advertised !
Should I return the radeon 9000 for another radeon 9000 , already done that .
If I could talk to a live person I would ask for my $ back , I haven't opened the item yet .
What would you do ?

Too bad my uncle waited too long before getting rid of his Buy.com stock back in the overhyped scam-riddled heyday of the DOT.CON era. He lost his arse on Buy.con, con-artists every one.
Just because they're big does not mean they're better. Remember that. If pictures are worth a thousand words, then the pictures on Buy.con's website aren't worth a single line of HTML. I say buy from a store like Fry's Electronics, someplace where you can actually touch the product you're buying.
My 2 cents. |

Buy.com confirmed they don't carry the Ati radeon 9000 PRO agp 64M , except for the mac . I rma'ed for refund . Sure have a good photo of the 9000 pro , though .
Big difference the 9000 pro has dvi connection , the regular 9000 does not .
