Staples APC Rebate?

Ordered some items from www.staples.com during their Anniversary Sale May 18-24,03(had probs with browser so called it in).

They were out of the APC 500VA UPS so had it put on back order.

It came in a couple of days ago and they called me. Checked with Customer Service Mgr and was told that they would still honor the rebate (-$30). Went to their rebate site to print it but could not find !

Appreciate any links to where I can get this rebate or what I should do.

Thanks

Gene

Send a message via AIM to Kc2iLq
Call them back and ask them what you should do. I've found that they have a pretty good rebates dept. I once threw out a box and they still honored a rebate after I spoke with them.

My overall experience with Staples rebates has been good, but they just screwed my mother out of a $50 rebate for a CD Burner. I'm going to stop by the store on my way home tonight to see if they'll do anything about it in-store.

Didn't mean to hi-jack your thread- just a warning to be careful about rebates. Best of luck to ya.

Thanks everyone!

If you use RCs link will find that APC is not listed for rebates.

Question: Did anyone else get this item during the Anniversary sale May 18-24,03?

APC 500VA UPS (SKU 474046) price $39.98 with $30 rebate.

Update: gave a call to Saples Rebate Center and checked with a supervisor who referred me to staples.com

Talked to a staples supervisor who happened to remember this sale item and rebate (they sold out in short time) so took care of everything.

Comments

Ruler... Totally agree with you about being careful about rebates!! So far only have Good Things to say about Staples handling their Rebates so do not believe that they would intentially try to deny a rebate. Suggest you talk to a Staples Supervisor about any problems. Would be interested in how it comes out!

Energizer is a good company

I purchased this deal at Staples recently. It was too good to pass up.

However, when I got it home and was fiddling with the software, anytime I tested it, the thing would flash before kicking in. This caused my computer to turn off and then back on, and hence defeat the purpose of a backup.

After two short phone calls, they decided to replace the unit. They sent me the next model (600 VA) free and had UPS pickup the other unit. No money down or anything. The new unit works great.

A 600 VA unit for only $10. Not bad. Thanks guys.

Make sure you test your units!!!!!!!! They said this might be a common problem with this model.

Slaird,

Thanks for the info! Agree about doing some testing, which I have not done yet.

Would you please post (or provide a link) as to how these tests were done so those interested could try .

I stopped by the local Staples store after work yesterday with the small novel that detailed the history of the rebate. The manager told me that I should go back to the store where it was purchased (about 25 miles away; got it there because OM was down the street and would draw people away, giving us a better shot at what we wanted ) in the future, but that they would take care of it. (Even insisted when I told her I could go there this weekend.) She gave me $50 cash to honor the rebate and many apologies about the hassle.

End result- two people (mother and myself) are much less apprehensive about sending in rebates from Staples.

This was an aside to your regular scheduled thread. Your normal discussion will now resume.
