Hi
yes its a pretty big one too, I called them today and first I had to fight with their automated thing for half an hour before I could get to talk to a real person then they transfered me around for another half an hour and in the end just to tell me that the hard drive is back ordered and will probably take 2 to 3 weeks (they are not even sure), nice huh ? wish they told me that when I ordered
I cant believe them, supposed to be a good company, at least I used to think so ...

Bought 2 HD's from Dell's web site and had no problem.
It was around 6 months ago on one of Doc's deals.

I got mine from Dell with no trouble. Since there's a rebate involved, you might want to cancel and get it from somewhere else. Cheap drives are pretty easy to find.
BTW, fighting automated things is not recommended.

yup, welcome to the wonderful world of dell. When you finally get through the automated, everyone says it's not their department. I've spent over 8 hours w/ them on one tiny HDD problem, finally figuring it out myself, then having to go through it all again when the HDD failed... There's no responsiblity, so no one cares.

If they won't cancel it, call your credit card company or you bank. If you ordered understanding it was to ship by a certain date, that's what you authorized. If that changes, your credit card company will usually side with you.
On another note, if you get it, check the brand. I just got my Dimension 2350 (might be different for system builds) that was supposed to have a Western Digital HD, and when I upgraded my memory, I noticed a Seagate sticker on it. Nice. |

i personally think dell has the worst customer service ever. i tried to change an order, but they told me i had to cancel it instead and reorder. so i did and reordered, but the cancel didn't go through, so they told me to deny the delivery of the first order. their customer care site tells you jack **** and its been over a month from when i tried to cancel it and i'm waiting for them to credit my account. any time i try to get an update, they tell me the same damn thing, within 30 days. dell has some good deals, but if something goes wrong, you're pretty much screwed because their system is pretty much built on a one-way basis. just venting and this seemed like the perfect opportunity Please refrain from using profanity here.

Thank you
