opinion of Dell 8300

Does anyone have any opinions about the Dell 8300. If so I'd like to hear them. Dell small business has some good buys on this model. Most of the deals end today.

Yes , I have considered building my own, but sometimes the Dell deals seem so good.
Thanks for offering the help. I'll need it if I do build my own.

Your on this site and still consider buying a Dell. Do yourself a favor and get an Athlon XP system from Monarch or one of the other highly rated companies.

most dells are overall pretty decent for doing your basic stuff. it can play games and most everything else...but! My friend got a dell and they usually give you like 256mb ram, which is nothing and since it was RDRAM, its pretty expensive. I would try to stay away from dell if possible, try to get an amd system, the ram is much cheaper if you ever need to get more. You can have systems built for you, what price range are you looking for?

I just got my new dell a week ago - a Dimension 8250. I believe the only difference between it and the 8300 is the Pentium 4, 3 ghz chip. Oh - the 8300 does not have RDRAM like my 8250.

My 8250 came with 256mb of RDRAM, then their special was that they doubled it up to 512 mb, plus gave me a free combination DVD/CD reader/writer in the second bay - plus an extra $150 off, plus free shipping. I upgraded my video card, and speakers, and will be adding in a second hard drive, plus a better sound card.

So far I've been very pleased with it. This is my 5th PC that I've owned, I started with PCs back in 1983. My last two were both ACERs that I was also very happy with. In fact, my first ACER is still up and running. I'm going to give it to my Mother when I visit her next.
