Rebate Hell!!

While this is in the "community", I took mAdMaLuDaWg's advice and posted here. Sorry mods, I know it's a double post, so to speak, but..........Rebates That Never Arrive

I play the rebate game and eventually do get all my money but often wait 3 -4 months for it. Remember to follow the rules to the letter and keep copies of everything- the rebate form, the UPC code and the receipt. After the time period specified call the number on the rebate form and start asking where is it.

I got a $15.00 rebate from compUSA, that was mailed back in November 2002, a full 5 months later.

I never buy on the basis of a rebate. Basically they are borrowing your $$ interest free and sometimes they don't even bother paying you back. It's just not worth it.

That's basically where I'm at right now too. If it says "after mail-in rebate" I look the other way and keep going. Forget it.

Depends on the store. A rebate with Staples, Microsoft and a few other vendors is well worth the effort. But with CompUSA, I'd rather just wait for the item to drop to a more reasonable price.

I buy on Rebates all the time.... Here is what I do: If the rebate does not arrive onetime, I don't release payment (Credit Card of course)
Usually the company will look into the hold up and What do you know Mysteriously a rebate check arrives in the mail...

Try It!!!

At&t

The only company that has ever cheated me is AT&T/Nokia...

Never sent me the $50.00 rebate and I am stuck with the AT&T contract...

I hate cell phone companies

I use rebates when there is a chance. Usually they send it back in a couple of months.

I totally agree w/ osprey4. Stay away from CompUSA. Most of my rebates from CompUSA never come.
