help me to achieve this tv-out hook up plz

Hey everyone,

i was thinkin of gettin a laptop mainly because i get tired of sitting at my desk all day..........

Then i thought maybe i can buy a video card that has an s-video out and link it to my 36inch sony xbr tv. Then i could get that logitech wireless keyboard mouse combo for $40.00 and i would be all smiles... cheap and easy.. (like me.. lol)

I will be using it to mainly to code Visual Studio stuff.. so graphics for gaming and stuff aren't a concern.. just the ease of doing it from my couch if i want to. I know the picture may be somewhat blurry, but its ok.

The major question i have is what video card to i should get.. I don't need anything too fancy and my computer is a 4 year old gateway P III, 450 Mhz, 256 MB of RAM, 16 MB Voodoo Banshee AGP Graphics card. Its ancient, but it does all i need it too

Also, is there any way i can send the signal to all the TV Sets i may have in different rooms. I know this may need extra hardware, but i was just curious.

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

AJ.

Asus sells a series of graphics cards that are like the ATI all in wonders. The bonus is they have a Nvidia chipset. I used the V8200 deluxe for the longest time before I bought a firewire video camera and didnt need the video in anymore. gave it to my dad. He to has had nothing but great luck with it.

On the svid out it gives a decent picture - HOWEVER if you intend to read text buy a bottle of heavy diuty aspirin as the attempt will give you a nice headache.

As for multiple tv display you could use one of those adapters that beam your video from one room to another. I bet with little effort you could piggy back it nicely.

Thanks

Maybe i should find somewhere/someone who has this hook-up to actually see how bllurry the text is.

I don't wanna ruin my eyes..if it's that bad, maybe i should just go with the laptop.

Thanks for the info.

The picture isn't just 'somewhat blurry', it's unreadable.
You won't be able to do anything else but watch movies and play with tv-out.

Imagine, put 800x600 screen on 32" tv, what do you get? Huge pixels.
