Backordered items and rebate purchase dates info, please.

Hi all,

I have an item on BO from Best Buy (PNY,pc2700, 256) placed on 4/10 (rebate states must be purchased by 4/12), but received notice of BO today, with option to cancel order.

The obvious question is what will be the date of purchase, the order date or the shipping date (when they actually charge my card)?

Better retailers do not charge your card until the item is shipped. So if they're on backorder and they miss the rebate date, you're better off cancelling.

It should be the order date.
But there is one catch. Some rebates have only 7 days or so to have your rebate forms sent in. Sometimes there would be back order and there were a couple of times I received the items after the 7 days limit and I was out of luck.
You can never argue about it because if you ask them to take the order date, you're out of the 7 days limit. If you ask them to consider the shipping date, it is past that promotion period. So it is a loss loss situation.

samson, sometimes instead of argueing with the horible rebate ppl, If you go and bitch at the retailer they will give it to you.
