Does Amazon.com charge sales tax in MA?
I am thinking of buying a DVD player at Amazon.com. It is not qualified for the free shipping so if they charge sales tax on MA, I may back off buying from them.
They should not charge sales tax on anything except items sold by their "affiliates" that have a store in your state. For example, Target sells stuff online through Amazon and you'll be charged tax if there's a Target in MA.
Some of their electronics are offered through affiliates, so the only way to tell is to add the item to your cart and check it.
If there is a location that Amazon has a warehouse in MA then yes, there'll be tax, otherwise, if it's in like CA, then there's no tax. Basically, if they have a store front in the state that you live in, there's tax.
