Well, the guy was having consistent problems with this comp...he brought it over here the first time and I reset his bios and he went home with it and it lasted about 15 minutes and it flaked out again. Since I installed the new drive he hasnt called me (about 5 days now) so I have to assume the drive is bad. Maybe I will call him to make sure, lol. He had 2 cdroms and a ls120 and it wasnt loosing any of the them, just the maxtor hd.

Does anyone know what they do if they have advanced rma'd you a drive and the one you send in checks out ok? Maybe they KNOW that will happen a certain amount so its no big deal...they prolly check it out fully then consider it "refurbed" and send it back to the next guy who calls.

JP

Actually I think the drive I sent them back was OK, it was clicking on boot (head park) and the new drive they sent also clicks, so I assume it's part of win2k's boot up sequence, They never called me, but if they wanted this one back I would have shipped it back to them (same circumstances as Advanced RMA)

But I wouldn't think of anything, just call them, tell them it's intermittently not reporting and giving intermittent errors, they will issue an RMA for ya.
