need help deciding for a camcorder!!!!

Hello people!!!


I am in a conflict. Last week someone stole my camcorder, very pissed off But I have to move on. My mom is going to help me in getting a new camera. My conflict is, get the same camera i had, which was the sony DCR-TRV340, awesome cam.

But, now I am thinking in upgrading to minidv, the only reason for now is camera size. The reason i still want the old one i had is the zoom feature. The minidv camera I'm looking at is the sony DCR-TRV33. DCR-TRV33


I know of the diferences between the cameras.

My question is better zoom or better lens???

I have the Sony TRV-840, digital 8mm, I like it a lot. Has image stabilization, some whopping zoom rating like 240x, etc. Like the 340 but a few more perks.
The 33 offers 690k effective pixels, and the 340 only has 290k; right off, I'd go for the 33, but then again.... the 340 has digital recording vs 33 not. Tough call, that is quite a tradeoff. Yeah, I guess for me, the 33 still wins.

The CCD resolution makes a difference with the digital photos. If you have 290k resolution CCD then you'll get only 640x480 images. However with 690k resolution CCD you can get approximately 1024x768. With higher resolution you can get larger digital prints.

290k is barely sufficient for DVD quality video.
