How is the quality of the Memorex CDs?

I hear that Memorex has good quality CDs. Nowadays most of the CD-RW drive can write up to 48X but all of its CDs are still writing up to 16X only. Any comment?

I got a spindle of memorex's that can burn at 40x (The limit of my writer).

Maybe you just have some old Memorex CD-Rs.

Maybe officeMax only has the old Memorex CD-Rs. I check all of their Memorex CDs and they are all 16X.

I sent in the label of my CD-r's in for a rebate, so I dont know what they were offically rated at. It's also not written on the CD-r's. It could have been 16x, but it burns at 40x for sure, since I've spun out a couple disks at 40x.

BTW I think I got these at officedepot...last summer I think.

Burning at 16x takes 4-5minutes, burning at 48x takes 2-3 minutes.

I have memorex cdr's at home that handle 24x, bought them half a year ago. They're good cds.

Every spool of Memorex I've purchased for as long as I can remember (atleast half a year) have been 40x. I swear by them and they're always on sale for cheap with rebate.

good for what? Data backup I suppose.

But for audio cd's I won't touch them anymore. THey're the only brand of CD I've ever gotten a coaster with. And all the audiophiles on other websites won't touch them for CD backup.

my 2 cents
