ABIT IT7 Max v2 or Asus P4PE/L

Anyone have experience with either of these boards? I'm leaning toward the ABIT, but it sure is pricey - $169 (ouch!). (Of course, that's about what I paid for my Asus A7M266 when it first came out - it costs to be an "early adopter"!).

This will be replacing my "Flagship" PIII 500 / Biostar 440BX chipset rig, which has served me well, but is finally showing it's age.

It will be mated to a 2.4B / 533 Northwood.

Thanks for any and all info. I'd like to order the board tonight from Newegg if possible, once I decide to take the plunge.

I think thekingofpain has experience with this board. Tim, are you out there?

Thanks.

- Bill

some info on abit

Just built what you are going to do-
love the board-some quirks-got to abit-usa and try max2 forums for how to use the cd that comes with the board-or your usb ports will be dead or freaky-just follow the threads and you will be ready to go.
My first build-had a 33 year ibm vet for backup at all times-he said the board had the most features he had ever seen-raid is teriffic-some issues with the seriat ata-but if I had to do it over again, I would-except I might pop the extra $70+ and go for the 2.66 chip-it looks like it does about 50% better in some of the sandra benchmarking.
I bought an antec 1080 430 wt case for $105 as well-picked everything up same day in Silicon Valley-@$475 incl tax for case/mobo/processor.
Good luck-I thought about the asus as well but the highpoint raid setup seemed better received than the promise raid controller-that is the one on the asus if I remember correctly.
Bios on this one is virtually idiot proof as well-so far
