Does anyone have trouble with rebateshq.com's mail in rebate?
Does anyone have trouble with rebateshq.com's mail-in rebate?
I had trouble with their Cendyne mail-in rebates and I was finally settled with their one-time courtesy. I mailed in my IBM optical mouse rebate (from Staples) and K-byte SDRAM rebate (from OfficeMax) in January and they said they have no record of it. I thought it was only $10 and $16 so I never made copies of the receipts and UPC codes and I learn my lesson.

hehe, if you hang around this forum for a while you will see that we ALL have had probs with rebateshq....(of course we take as good as we give...wink wink fisheagle, hehe).
Anyway, all inside jokes aside, I will just give you the plain skinny on them and other rebate places.
Basically, its all a game.
What you MUST realize to do rebates and keep your sanity is that after you correctly send in everything etc they STILL will reject the rebate...and it doesnt really matter what reason they give cuz the reason is not real anyway....I have them rejected for any and every reason.
So the first rule is...MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING...YOU WILL NEED THEM...if you dont make copies of everything, well, God bless you, hehe...cuz you will lose.
So just make copies and keep track of stuff and when, not if, when you recieve the rejection notices just explain that you did in fact purchase in the proper time period blah blah and offer to fax them the info, tell em you have copies of everything and you are glad to send them...usually they will just validate it on the spot and you wont have to send in anything.
You have to realize that if they refuse 20 rebates that only about 5 people will call in and question it..so they make good money rejecting them...so dont take it personal, its part of the game....but its YOUR MONEY, ITS A CONTRACT...be wise..keep copies.

Thank you, John.
I mean it is really weird that 2 rebates could be lost in mail at the same time.
I wouldn't say that they are using this kind of practice to rip us off. But I am just curious if somebody else has the same kind of experience.
If they say that I am not qualify for the rebate because of this and that, I can still talk to them. They are saying that they didn't receive anything from me and I don't have anything to prove my case, it is just pure tough luck for me.
(I sent in the original invoice for the IBM mail-in rebate and the UPC code without making any copy because it was only $10).

Quote--->I wouldn't say that they are using this kind of practice to rip us off
hehe, after you have sent in as many rebates as I have you will start to see some patterns...like getting 3 out of 6 rebates rejected for totally bogus reasons...after a while it is clear to see that they simply reject them for NO reason and if you havent copied stuff you just lose out.
Although I have yet to have them tell me they never got my envelopes, thats a new one.
On a big rebate like $60-100 or more it wouldnt hurt to send a registered letter etc.

Samson, your rebates did not get lost in the mail, more like "oop's, that one fell in the garbage can, OH WELL".
These peple are scammers, they have given myself as others here anything but legitament reasons for not validating rebates.
These people DO rip us off and have very shading business practices.
I think many folks here have given up on the whole rebate "game" because of this.
I know i've about had enough.

Hey, Rob:
That's why I bought one of those Epson 3 - in - 1 printer / scanner units - so I can copy all of my documentation.
Ironically, I'm having trouble getting my $30 Epson rebate on the 3-in-1 lol!!
Samson - you may want to consider filing the rebate on-line. That way you at least have a rebate tracking number, and you're all set up until such time as you send in the required proofs of purchase, UPC code, etc. That's no guaranty, but at least you'll have a record of the filing.

Bill, I did file my IBM optical mouse rebate online. They say they are still waiting for my documents....
Can I file my OfficeMax rebate online?
John, I did consider mailing some of the big rebates by registered letter. Can we send registered letter to a P.O. Box?

Thank you Jammer.
I gave up on those 2 rebates already. But I think I have a chance on the K-byte rebate now. Because even I didn't make copy of the invoice and the UPC code for myself, I got my $15 rebate cheque from OfficeMax about a month ago.
The K-byte had a $15 OfficeMax rebate and a $16 manufacturer's rebate. The OfficeMax rebate only required a copy of the UPC and invoice. They proved that I was qualified for that rebate already. Now I will write to OfficeMax and rebateshq.com again.
They will have my $10 for my IBM rebate but I will go after them for the K-byte $16 manufacturer's rebate. It is not that the $16 is very important for me, it is that I will not let them to get away with it so easily.

I mailed my IBM scroll mouse rebate on Jan. 6, 2003 and I just received a postcard says that: the postmark date on your rebate submission was after the deadline for this rebate.
Normally they would email me right away to tell me that I am not qualify for the rebate before they would send me a postcard. Now they send me the postcard before they put my status on their website.
It says Date Received: 02-26-2003
It is a mystery that it would take 50 days for them to receive my documents.
I will go after them for this.
I just found out that K-byte SDRAM's rebate was by rebatestatus.com. They said that they never received my rebate request.
