Hey, Drew:
Keep in mind that Newegg has a min. "8" dead pixel policy. Do check out Doc's deal, or just look for it as today's deal at
www.Spoofee.com Pretty good reviews on an 18" LCD. Seems to have gotten some pretty good reviews - around $384 + tax. But the sale ends at midnight tonight. (I'm not sure what Dell's dead pixel policy is ; I've ordered three Planar LCDs and one Dell from them, and there were no dead pixels on any of them).
Also, the Dell 18" has both std VGA 15 - pin and DVI digital connections.
To answer your question, those are fairly decent specs for that price range:
View angle 140 H / 120 V (160 H would have been a little better)
250 cd/m Brightness should be bright enough.(You'll only notice the difference in the store if you put a 350 cd/m Samsung next to it).
400:1 Contrast ratio is very good for the price range
5 + 20 = 25ms Response time - you really wouldn't want anything higher, (lower is better, which minimizes any "ghosting" of moving objects)
Keep in mind that 1280 x 1024 is the native resolution at which text is displayed most clearly.
Only has 15 - pin VGA analog connection (the CTX)
Hope this helps a little.
