Printer opinions

Hey. I am thinking of getting a new color printer and wanted to know what models people like so far. Here are the constraints:

1. I am a student so buget is a big issue. I'm looking under the 150ish range.

2. I'm an engineering student. That means a lot of what I print is graphs(which the color needs to be somewhat decent) and long papers(mostly text, so the text quality needs to be good, with about 1 figure for 4 pages.)

3. Ideally I want somethig that can print fast but obviously tradeoffs need to be made. I would be willing to sacrafice a little in cost to make up for it in print speed though.

I chekced out ZDnet and CNET for reviews. So far the Epson C60 looks pretty good. Any thoughts?

Inkjet printers are expensive.
I have the epson c42ux (which I bought the day before yesterday), and it didn't perform very well in tests.

The cost per photo printing is ~2€ (a4), and b/w text printing ~0.1€.

The ink cartridge lasts for ~190 text pages and ~30 photo pages.

InkJet printers suck when it comes to economy. They cost a little, but the cartridges cost honey. For the price of a new cartridge, you can get a new printer. What's the point in that?

Eg. Lexmark Z?? printer costs 39€ here, ink cartridge for that costs ~40€. (that's original, of course pirate inks costs less).

If you don't need very high quality I'd go for the Epson or maybe a Canon. Reason is the ink, many models made by these 2 will use generic ink cartridges which cost $3-8 each compared to HP cartridges that cost $30-40 each. Go to www.extracartridges.com and see which models you can buy cheap ink for. I've got an Epson 480sxu that is 1.5 years old and runs fine. It cost me $22 after rebate and I always use the generic ink. I'm very happy with it. Check this one out, $49 + 8 shipping.
