ABIT SILURO GF4 TI4200-8X-128 Meg
Thought it was time to move up in the vid card world, the GF2 needs to go.
Can anybody using this card give me some opinions on it.
Newegg has it on sale for $119.99 with free shipping.
Is it worth the money or is there another brand I should look at?
Thanks
WB

Abit made one of the best TI4200's when they first came out. (best = most overclockable ) I assume it would be the same for the 8x version.
Amongst the same type of Nvidia GPU, brand differenciation doesnt really matter that much outside of overclockability and features.

WB:
We must think alike. I just saw that at Newegg last night and was wondering the same thing.
(I'm not a gamer either, but I would like to play the NOLF2 demo, and I just picked up GTA3 for $20 (no MIR for a change!).
I did pick up that CompUSA ($150 after MIR) AIW Radeon 8500 128 DDR. I wonder how these two cards compare?

I have the VisionTek GeForce 4 Ti4200 128mb card. It handles everything thrown at it perfectly. UT2003, CS, Formula 1, Q3A all run fast and stable.

Bill, I thought you just picked up that ATI AIW card deal from Comp?
I was looking at the "user" reviews on the Abit and the one reviewer mentioned the card was not very over-clockable.
BTW did you notice the price change on the XP1700 at newegg.
Thursday night they had it at 48.00, went to order 2 about an hour later and they were 50.00.
Newegg must have been having problems with there server as I could not place my order.
Had to be up at 4 am Friday so I figured I would place the order after work.
Back from work at 8 pm last night and there 55.
Hmmm.

AR, They had the Visiontek 4200 / 128 meg card at Tiger Direct for $129.00 + s&h.
Total was $140.00 and change. Thought it was a bit high for the card and I have never heard anything good about Tiger Direct so I passed.
I believe the new GF is supposed to hit the shelves in a couple of days, I have to wonder what that is going to do to the current GF4 prices.

I bought mine at BestBuy way back when they were first released. It was $169 on sale. |
