Hey,Rob:

Per my edit above, yes, I have the AIW 8500 - not installed or anything yet, 'cause my original "hog" that I built,(which was pretty close to "top of the line" at the time over two years ago), is a 1.33 Athlon, with an original AIW 32MB Radeon - now close to the bottom of the benchmarks! (Each of those components was about $250 ea., along with the 16x Plextor burner, also $250 - which were all good prices at the time - lol!).

I did install the Remote on that "old" Radeon, and I've been playing with it from my couch. It's a little tricky, but you can work your mouse pointer with it. I love it.

Prices do change quickly sometimes at Newegg, so I didn't see that XP1700+. Newegg does have a one page ad in the March issue of PC World, and has the retail-boxed XP2100+ for $95 + free shipping. This is a pretty good price, isn't it? Maybe that's just an "anticipated" price,(Crucial does that too).
They also have a retail P4 2.4B/533 for $159 shipped.( These were $191 until this past week, when they fell to $164).
Since I want to do a bunch of DVD burning, I'm wondering if going with a P4 might be better than a comparably priced XP. (Don't get me wrong, I'm a big AMD fan! I'm looking at bang for the buck, with an eye toward gaming and DVD capture/burning video performance).

Sorry to have rattled on here.

AR - Where's "Healdsburg"?

I got the 64MB version with the OTES external cooling system. I love it. I paid $125 shipped when they were still in stock

Healdsburg is a small town located along the Russian River. It's about an hour and a half north of San Francisco.
