compgeeks gone to crap?
I bought a compaq PM-1 mp3-cd player from the geeks a couple days before last Christmas.
Well, the remote (and only way to tell where you are on a player that holds 6 hours of music) won't do anything at all and never worked right.
I contacted them to RMA it, and they said because it was a 90 manufacturer's warranty I would have to contact Compaq to get it fixed.
Fair enough, so I did, and Compaq told me that computergeeks was not a "compaq certified reseller" and had likely purchased a big lot of second hand ones somewhere.
So I wrote back (replied to the same representative) telling him what they said, and so he told me to contact a company called "Action Intl." and gave an 800 number (I'm assuming the bulk partner of compgeeks). They were really nice, and quick service, but said that because they were out of stock, I would just have to ask the geeks for a refund.
So I replied yet again to the same representative and got a canned response to contact compaq for warranty. Yup, he must have "just forgotten" with the entire text of the conversation in Re: part of the email.
So I replied a second time and got the same "contact compaq for warranty service."
So here I am stuck with a defective piece of merchendise with no one accepting responsibility for the warranty or exchange/refund on the device.
Depending on their reply to the email I just sent, I'm going to back to resellerratings and see if I can't change my rating of them to something more fitting their "quality" of service.
