Laptop Parts.

Were is the best place to buy laptop parts from the case to the mobo?

A friend of mine wants to buy a laptop, I told him that I could build it for much less than he was going to spend on a dell system.

One problem I dont know a very good place to buy the parts.

Does NewEgg sell laptop parts?

You aren't going to find (m)any places to buy laptop parts. They are proprietary systems.

I'd guess that even if you did find a place that sells some parts, you wont find all the parts. Secondly, you would have no guarantee they would all work together.

Thirdly, your friend will have no warranty, in the situation that he drops it, etc. (Laptops often 'break' more often, because it is their nature to be portable.. increasing the risk of damage)

It might be in his best interest to buy a used laptop (from say, eBay).

I agree. The only option you have would be a barebone Desknote, a "laptop" using desktop components....but they aren't really laptops as they have no builtin battery. More like a desktop replacement. If he wants a cheap but good laptop - look online for Sagers. Same laptop as Alienware's w/o the expensive paintshop - and they REALLY perform.
