Outdoors RAM Slot Problem

Hello,

I was increasing the RAM on my Compaq Presario 633, when the 2 clips in the second slot broke (on the motherboard). Is there any way I can fix this problem myself? If so, then how?

Thanks,

Trao

If you're talking about the two white clips that hold the RAM down, then no, I don't think you can fix that yourself.

Welcome to TECHIMO !!

To get your specific answers you need to be specific

The name of your Mobo, the type of RAMM Slot your speaking of, if it's a Chain-Store bought system or where your system was put together and how old it is (warranty?) etc.

You're quick - ER

the holders server two functions:

a)they ensure that the chips remain seated

b)they eject the chip when depressed for removal.

if you broke them off, a) shouldn't be a big concern since it's a desktop and not being moved much. b) might be an issue if you need need to removal the chips later.

frankly, i wouldn't bother trying to get it fixed unless you're covered by the warranty. it's not significant enough to warrant spending $$$ for repair.
