Alright, I know this is sacrilege, but I want to build a decent computer and spend the least amount possible. But I am coming here to ask you guys because I know that if I pick based on price, I will get some pretty crappy components. I value speed and performance, but I am a Cheap Bastard. If buying something better will really make a difference, then I will loosen the pursestrings a bit.
I am not a gamer, but I do some fairly intensive photo editing and I like to watch DiVX movies. I am trying to get a barebones system, plus system memory for $250. I already have hard drive, CD-RW, etc.
This is what I am shooting for:
Tower case, not picky.
Power supply (what wattage is sufficient?)
Athlon XP 2000+
Motherboard
- integrated sound, video, maybe LAN a plus
- at least 2 or 3 PCI slots
256 MB system memory (I will add another 256 later)
I've looked at some of the barebones systems on Pricewatch, but the prices seem too good to be true. $100 for case, power supply, mobo, and Athlon XP 2000+ CPU? Can that be right? Will it work, or arrive at all?

I know I sound clueless, but I can put a system together so I'd rather not go the Dell/Gateway route. I've just been out of the game for awhile and get overwhelmed when it comes to matching up mobos with CPUs. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.
