Quality Scanner for Home use

I'm looking for a good scanner for doing document scans
as well as 35mm films. Any suggestions or experience
with any of the ones that are available.

What do you guys think about Epson Perfection 1660/2400 ?
How do they compare against HP/Canon ?

I've been less than impressed with every Epson product I've ever bought, on the contrary HP has been good.

My Epson Photo 1250 with slide/negative adaptor produced reddish colors using the flatbed, all the HP's have produced perfect colors [which is about a dozen or more scanners total]
