Will it work in 98?

Ati 9700pro. I'm asking this for a friend who is building a system and quite honestly, only buys stuff that looks good to him when he's in the store ( a man with money and no patience are quickly parted ). According to him, the box says the card is built for ME or XP. Seems to me that it would be able to run in Win98, but I've never dealt with the newer ATI cards ( haven't even looked at them since I'm Nvidia biased ) Anyone know, or have experience running the newer ATi cards in 98? AFAIK, ME is a 9x OS unlike XP being a NT OS. Is it most likely just a move to only show the newest OS's on the high end stuff because that is what is most likely what is in the computer that will be getting the upgrade?
