Thanks for the replies, and the good advice from omc1jz!

Having quickly glanced through the sites, it seems I've got the best deal available. But I'll try using omc1jz's advice, and see if I can get anything bettered if I pay in cash, as I noticed that some of the companies offer such discounts, most notably surpass computers who give a $200 c. discount.

So I figure, why not try get another 256MB Ram out of them, or maybe a 2400+ instead, or even a gf4 t4600 out of them. This might all be wishful thinking, but why not try my luck? Which of these would give the most bang for the buck?

Plus with the XP3000 coming out on 10/02, I think I'll wait a couple of weeks and maybe CPU prices on the 2400- may fall.
All in all looks like a nice deal to me.

What do you think?

Seems like a good deal.

If you are willing to buiild your own, PCMarket in Sydney has the best prices I've seen for components. Not sure if they will build a system for you or not, though.

Never heard of Chillipower before, but I mainly deal with on-line resellers. I get good quotes from Digitac in Melbourne. Might be worth getting a quote and comparing.

Cheers
Mick

I'd just go buy parts at the computer fair and build it myself, cheapest way

I'd read some of the Sydney computer fairs are a bit shonky. Some not nice things were said about them on the Overclockers Aust forums. Never been to one, myself, but would suggest checking them out thoroughly before buying anything.
Warranty can also be a problem in this setting.

Cheers
Mick

Digitac gave a good quote, slightly cheaper than C.P, ($50) but I suppose when you take delivery into account, its pretty much the same.

PCMarket are good, but I've found http://www.eyo.com.au to be also very good, particularly nice prices on graphics cards. However, I'm going to go with C.P.

PS I got the Athlon XP sticker, thanks Mick.

Sounds like a nice system. And you get the benefit of having the store close by (well, within the same state at least, anyway!), so warranty issues are not so much of a prob, if they arise.

I've dealt with eyo.com.au before, but felt the service and advice form PCMarket was a bit better. Maybe because they are not mainly resellers, but an IT company that does parts on the side for enthusiasts.

Have fun with your new system. Gonna put a DC on it??

Cheers
Mick
