PCI "Hardware Modem" Recommedations

I've been trying to convivce my father to go with high speed web access but to no avail (at least I talked him out of AOL).
I'd like some opinions on a quality internal PCI hardware modem.
I've looked at the offerings from newegg but with so many to chose from it's hard to make a choice.
Looking for something with not only high connection rates but with the least amount of problems.

Thanks
WB

US Robotics Performance Pro (5610B)

Or you can buy a less expensive 5610A and upgrade its firmware which makes it a V.92 compliant 5610B.

I currently use an Intel V90/V92 56K hardware modem. It has performed great for me.

Thanks
I'm out of the loop when it comes to the latest and greatest.
The V.92 standard I thought had been around for a while, or perhaps that was the V.90 spec?
Flashing the firmware is not an issue as i've done this in the past with Diamond ISA modems that I have (still). Is there anything I would be loosing by buying the 5610A and flashing it?

Read about V.92 here: http://www.modems.com/v92info.html
The V.92 features only work if your ISP supports them.
At least you dodged the AOL bomb!

elroy, thanks for the link, very imformative.
I MUST be missing something here because when I checked under the supported ISP's MSN is not listed.

Thanks Doc.
I saw your post awhile back and actually looked into that unit but reveiws have been less then stellar on this modem.

I've been using a US Robotics 5610 and it's worked great.

Nighthawk,
Would that be a 5610 ver A or B.
I guess i'm to going to have to call MSN and see if they support the V92 spec.
According to elroy's link above MSN appears not to support this spec, thinking of going with the 5610A and flashing it later if needed.

Thanks
