anyone been burned by rebates?
Well i have met a few so far, and i think they're there to screw you for your money. Buslink, watchout it a scam!! This is most recent and is still going on so far. I never got my 25 bucks rebate It was 69.95 20 from Bestbuy and 25 from buslink. already received 20 from bb like 3 weeks ago, and other rebate such as imation all came within 1 month. 2 months already up and never got it, so it is an indication that they do not honor rebate. Digital Research awhile back too they never sent me 15 buck rebates for 50pk CDR 32x, was 19.95 with 15 rebate. So I am paying full price for it, they got my money. This isn't something we can tolerate, and will definitely lose business in the near future as more are aware that some rebate are fake. Also, notice that most rebates are for crappy product that are the least useful which you can get it just as cheap without rebate online. They inflate the price then they use rebate to promote their product, so even if you do get it. They still make a ton of money.

Buslink??? Is that for that 48x12x48 CD burner??? If so I hope I don't get burned.
I got burned on a rebate for the Sims Deluxe. I sent it in on September 16. Still haven't gotten it. $10
I sent out a rebate for an ATI Radeon 7000 back on Nov. 1st. Still haven't gotten it. $40
Then a couple of year's back, 2 sticks of 256mb SDRAM. I believe it was about $20 a piece.
Right now I have over $200 in rebates waiting to come in. About $125 of them I sent in right before Xmas.

Thanks for the site PoonDoggy. I have been screwed many a time over the years with rebates supposed to get 1k off of a compaq once with many different rebates from circuit city and various other companies’. Never got a dime. Right now I have a stack or certificates and what not that haven’t been cashed yet. I build computers for people and i buy the components, since i do that i send in the rebates and the customer is supposed to pick up whatever is sent back. Its stupid allot of the time I get back stupid slips saying I have to spend the money in the store on the item that the rebate came from you just go in circles with endless rebates then. Some of the time you can only use it on a certain brand of product. They always make it sound like your getting a check back which sometimes you do. Then most the time the certificate has to be redeemed the next day or some crazy time period like that.

yes that was it, also i sent them an email and you know what happen? they are clueless! they asked me where i sent the rebates to and address??? wtf?? i replied and never got an answer ever since. been a week so far.
buslink= scam artist. the 24.95 after rebate is what got me so excited but it is really 49.95 because only Best Buy Honor rebate most of the time... and hardly by any other shady business scumbag. it just one lesson for us.
what we can do, find out what company that have honor their rebate and do business with them only and some that you never knew or that have heard other not receive rebate, then avoid them at all cost. here is their first reply and then i never heard from again ever since! I think they say this to all who question about their rebates. go figure!
"what is the address and department # you mailed the rebate to" Quote: Originally posted by embj Buslink??? Is that for that 48x12x48 CD burner??? If so I hope I don't get burned.

Keep copies of your submissions (that's why I have a scanner) and advertisements.
I usually get the goods from local B&M stores, so I'll march in with them and get the cash! If the check eventually comes, I'm way ahead.
It seems like it was Digital Research and a memory deal that both firms went under. The store covered me on both counts though.

If you sit right here in my chair, look past the corner of the monitor on the right, at the pegboard right behind my desk, you will see copies of rebates sent for, $ amount, estimated time of arrival in black marker on them. I think the only time I had a problem was when I called about one and they said the check was already cashed. Found out the wife had cashed it without telling me. < Oh money in the mail, must belong to me >

If its a good price BEFORE rebate then I will buy it, but will not purchase on rebate price alone.
I have one from Altec Lancing speakers from over a year ago, called them and all but no $$$
The couple I did get from other companys were slow or I had to call about them |

Rebates suck, totally
I refuse to be lured by rebates anymore.
The companies farm out the work to 'low-bid' greaseball marketing schemers who's bottom line is fattened by every rebate NOT sent out. One of my favorites was the rebate sent to some Texas border town (population 24,000)... then they send it back to me telling me "I didn't meet the requirements.." but send all the correct info to some other small town in CANADA!!!
So yeah, I photcopied the original requirements and a sarcastic rant about it all and sent it on. (I did it right the first time..)
Another time was a $175. from Panasonic. The 30 'run around' phone calls and 9 months it took was more than the value of the rebate.
NEVER AGAIN!!! They can shove the rebate right up thier a--
Maybe if you have the patience of a saint and the fortitude of a mule, rebates could work for you, and be a good deal.
