I place no value (or even possibly negative value) on one-time evaluations in which the poster praises a vendor.
It is just not human nature to go to the effort to compliment a vendor who performs as expected.
We are likely though, to go to the effort to complain, when dissatisfied.
I judge a vendor by how problems are resolved.
Fact: All vendors make mistakes!
Case in point:
NewEgg
I received a DOA UPS from them, which was RMA'd at my own expense.
Two weeks later I received an order consisting of 3 power supplies, which were not quite as ordered.
I phoned NewEgg prepared to do battle, & immediately the Rep credited my MasterCard for return shipping for not only the power supplies, but also for the UPS.
He also followed up with an email explaining that he had corrected the stocking error, which had resulted in my receiving the wrong power supplies.
I do not believe it is possible to do better than what was done by the NewEgg Rep.
Returning to the issue of "false positive" evaluations:
How difficult would it be for an employee to post a bogus evaluation from a library, computer lab, or cousin Harriet's PC?
There is realistically no way for resellerratings to curtail that activity.
If I smell fishy ratings, I buy elseware.
Caveat emptor!
