Staples / HP just called to tell me 10 MORE DAYS on order!!!
At the end of December, I got in on the Staples / HP laptop build your own deal. I ordered on Dec. 31. Their policy states that orders take 7 to 14 days to receive (custom computers). My confirmation from Staples came the day after I ordered saying it would be delivered Jan. 21 (today). ok, I can live with a week longer -- New Years day is in there, etc...... Today, the day it is to be delivered, I just received a call first asking if I had received my computer yet (no, I told them), secondly, they procede to tell me that because HP is "running behind" my order will not be delivered until January 31st! Do I want them to cancel the order, or keep waiting?
I said, "You've got to be kidding me! Delivery is only suppostd to take 7-14 days, and it has been 21, and now you're telling me I have to wait ANOTHER 10 days?"
"Yes, they are running behind." was the response I got.
"well, how about knocking some off of the price if I continue to wait?" I asked.
"we will give you $100 off" they said. (we'll see)
Begrudgingly, I decided to wait the additional 10 days. I didn't really want to buy an HP in the firstplace, but the price was so good that i didn't think I could pass it up. Now, If I can still get the $200 in rebates that I'm waiting on the upc codes to send in for and an additional $100 for p!ssing me off, it will really be a good deal. I'm still wondering if I just should've gotten a DELL and paid a little more.........darn that buyer's remorse.

for the price you paid on that hp laptop, i don't think the dell would even come close. and if you can get another $100 taken off, you're in an even better position. unless you needed the laptop as a present or for a trip, a lot of people in your shoes would be more than willing to take the $100 or even just waiting a while longer.
count yourself lucky if they do (deduct the $100) , because a lot of places would just apologize and politely ask you if you want to cancel your order.
