Help me i got Bait and Switched.

Electronics Closeout @ http://shop.store.yahoo.com/igotahotdeal/ has bait and switched me.

They shipped me a Kenwood HTB-504 (Home Theatre in a Box) that had a receiver of a lower grade model VR-505 http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...?productId=748

instead of the superior and listed model VR-507 The model on the box is the VR-507 http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...?productId=750 and it is listed clearly on the box as the model that should be included in the HTB-504 Home Theatre Package.

This box had a hand written sticker stating the model is VR-505. This sticker is applied directly over the boxes printing that states the model in the box SHOULD BE VR-507.

NOT ONLY IS IT AN INFERIOR MODEL BUT IT IS REFURBISHED!OMG!

The box looks as if it has been around the world 5 times. The guy at the EC said that there warehouse has put them in an awkward position and will send me a ups label. I think thats BS.

I am currently contacting them and they have spoke to me by phone assuring me I may send it back at their expense by ups and have faxed me a (supposed) label to do so. I am goin to ups with the parcel now.

They have however declined to answer any of the 10 emails i have sent.

What should someone do in this type of bait and switch situation normally?

I have contacted.

California Attorney general
BBB-Not Officially till I try to resolve with the vendor.
My Credit Card Company

Thanks for any info.

PS: I could have went to Sears paid $50.00 more and had it home the next hour. : (

the most important thing to do first is contact your cc company and dispute the charge. get that done in case the vendor does not come thru as promised.

then keep a detailed record of all your contacts & conversations of what has transpired so far. and of course, continue to follow up with them to see where you're at.

and for the future, consider using resellersratings.com to research before you buy on the net.

well wait and see what happens with this return.. but if you don't want another try from them then there is one thing I can think of.. has it been a month since you bought it? and if it was with a credit card.. you can call the company.. and inform them what happened.. and u should be able to get them to take care of you.. then head over to Sears and pick them up =)

edit: PJ.. that's 2 times 2day u beat me to the punch hehe

I just received the order Friday so I have had all weekend to stew over it when I wanted to set it up Fr4iday night. I contacted BofA on Saturday morning to dispute charges and filed a dispute. I have just started my email assault and phone calls against the Vendor today. Well there were a few emails to them over the weekend. I have tried to refrain from @#$*&%! in my emails.

Hard for a guy to do given this situation.

I was refunded my money but i would never suggest business with this company. I contacted everyone from FTC, DOJ, CA AG, BBB, etc.

BBB in Los Angeles reports they have numerous switch and bait reports for this company some remedied some not.
