See if the Best Buy deal is going on. $150 minus $60 in rebates. 100 gig WD with 8 meg buffer. There was also a 10% off coupon but it expired on Monday. I think they also have 10% off coupons in magazines but I do not know what issues. I think Sports Illustratedand Family Fun and Maxim.

davidmmm69,

I got a 100 gig Western Digital HD with an 8 meg buffer with a three year warranty for $81 and change on Monday and I didn't have to steal to get it.

I give you an "A" for creativity and risk taking but an "F" for ethics. Plus, what do you do if they charge you $150 for the non-appearing "defective drive"?

Personally I think it's unethical and you are taking advantage of a service that is offered for people that need the cross ship, ones who can't go without a drive but thiers is failing, when they revoke this method because of people doing what you are doing then who loses out? the ones that need it. Maybe they should mark your name as a bad trader, and just send the amount of the drive directly to collections and mess up your credit.

And what you are doing IS theft, since you are promising them something in trade for the drive and are not giving it.

Guess where I read that?

HERE

I'd say everything davidmmm69 posted is just about that. You are basically stealing S/N's from drives that are owned by other people. I feel sorry for the individual that legitamately tries to get support for a HDD purchased legally.
