If price is no object. Go Intel.

If not, Go AMD.

Go over to over Toms Hardware, they took a 3.06GHz P4, and cooled w/a heat block and AC compressor. They get the chip down to -2 deg F (running the chip at 4.1GHz)... Pretty cool stuff.

Then then ran a whole buncha benchamarks (about 12 of them), On 7 the P4@4GHz outclassed AMD 2600/2800(?) by about 25-33% consistently. On business Winstone, the top AMD beat out the P4@4GHz, because Winstone (business) does not use Hyper-threading. And on the last tests (3d rendering), the AMD top outclassed that P4 by 10-15%.

Not a bad showing by AMD, since the 2600 or 2800 they used (they used a whole CPUs for testing) is actually running at 2100MHz or so, and the OC P4 was at 4100MHz...

Probably most people who buy computers, buy Intel. And I think a majority of people who build, choose AMD.

I have an amd and I have been pretty happy with it.

I had a mother board melt down once when a bunch of electrolytic caps blew up . But I do not know if I can blame that on AMD. As far as performance it worked as well as the comparable 750 mhz pentium at the time.

My primary PC right now is a pentium but unless something changes I will probably go back to AMD with my upgrade.
