Free Dell Stuff...

Hello,

I have just got off the phone from dell tech support (in USA, go figure) and he is sending me a new CDRW/DVD-ROM drive for my 2650 inspirion.

Anyways everyone I talk to who has needed to have a part shipped to them from dell ends up getting something free like a stick of ram or upgrade etc.

My sales rep didn't say anything but I was happy I was getting a new drive.

Does anyone know or have any tips on how to get something free from dell when you need a new part to replace defective part?

I would appreciate it if you could tell me if they told you if you will recieve a free upgrade w/ it when they ordered it or if you called cust. service and they added it on or if it just arrived with X-tra stuff when you opened it. If you did talk to customer service what did you say?

Creul I know but I would like a free item : )

Thanks for the help.

My friend had bought a GateWay and his monitor went out 6 times! Working 1 sec, totally black the next. He kept getting free replacements from gateway but each kept fying (probably referbs) finnally he got REAL mad at them and they said they would inspect his whole computer. We went down to the GateWay country store and gave them the PC. After a week, they gave us the computer back with EVERYTHING replaced, even the HD without any notice of erasing. Anyways, they replaced his GeForce 2 GTS with aGeForce 3 Ti 500. A VERY nice gift for my friends 4 monthes of agony over the issue.

Me, I have replace 3 monitors ( same problemas friend), 1 mouse, 1 video card, 1 Power Supply, and a set of speakers, and have yet to recieve anything free. Darn.

in this day & age of cost-cutting and trimming, it's pretty hard to get free upgrades from a place like dell.

nowadays, you would have to have had a serious, ongoing problem for them to give you something extra for free.

Yes I agree dells prices are so low I have a hard time imagining how they could give out free stuff with repairs or parts.

Its just that I have heard of it before, like my friend had to get a new Hard drive they shipped back a 60GB instead of 40! So I thought maybe there was some skill.

Anyways, I have a fealing (i will call tomorrow) that they are shipping me a cd-rw for my notebook but I bought a cdrw/DVD-ROM so i hope i get the propper drive !

If not maybe it will be an "ongoing problem" LOL

Wouldn't it be great if they decided to ship me a DVD/RW!!!!! LOL Do they make 'em for dell notebooks?

Thanks

Send a message via Yahoo to Brainchild
They prolly shipped a 60 instead of the 40 because they were out of 40's and those were obsolete (to them) and it was more price effective just to send a 60 rather than buy a 40 to replace the bad one. Of course your friend didn't complain either did he??
