I've actually decided that I will play games on the computer. But not a whole lot of games.

Is this a good video card for games?

no, avoid the MX. spring for a Ti 4200, since you can get them for not much more sometimes. their slower and plus, when games that use DX8/DX9 features come out in 20 years or however long it takes them to get off their asses, you'll be slightly prepared. although by then GeForce FX cards will be the S3 Virge of todays world.

nVidia is coming out with a new line of video cards, the FX series, and the GeForce Ti series cards are being steeply discounted. I have a GeForce4 Ti 4400 on my system and it is well worth the extra $80 - $150 to get the better card. Skip the MX cards and go for the Ti series. You will never be sorry you did but you might be sorry you didn't. The top line GeForce4 Ti 4600 had a price cut of nearly $100 in the past few weeks. Proportionate cuts for the 4200 and 4400 as well. And, yep, I think that is a good deal if your install of OS goes OK. Jim

Yo Soy,

This is my favorite cheap build box:

Mobo : Asus A7N266-VM AA (AMD Assured Version) NVIDIA nFORCE 220 Chipset 266/200MHz FSB Motherboard Micro ATX- Retail
Socket A AMD Duron, Athlon, and Athlon XP up to 2600+
nForce 220D: NVIDIA IGP-64 north bridge and NVIDIA MCP-D south bridge
FSB:266/200 MHz
2 DIMM sockets support max. 1GB unbuffered PC2100/1600 non-ECC RAM
Slots:3x PCI 1xAGP PRO 4x (NO PCI VIDEO CARDS CAN BE USED)
Onboard LAN:10/100 Mbps
Integrated AC97and Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3) Encoder Audio
Integrated Nvidia Nforce GeFORCE2 Video. ($71.99 shipped at Newegg)

Add an Athlon xp1700+ ($ 51 shipped...Newegg)

256 mb DDR pc 2100 (Best Buy has for $39 after mir)

HDD @ $50 and up at BB after mir, and best buy has a great deal on 100 gig 7200 rpm, 8 MB buffer for @ $90 after mir (or less if you read doc's and hurry)

48 x cd-rw $29 after mir at BB

cheap case, power supply, floppy disk drive, cpu fan from Newegg, (@ $55 and up)

So for around $300 (plus the os of your choice); great sound (esp. for onboard), nice video, stability, and expandability. Your next upgrade will be an Athlon 2600+ in a couple of years when they're cheaper, and some more pc 2100 and perhaps a 4x agp video card in the nearer term, when you get it on sale with a rebate if and when you determine you need it at all.

This is a great mobo. Good luck.
