I have a few questions on ebay. I am not new to Ebay as I have been a member since 1998 but all I have done is buying not selling. Now I have a digital camera and want to do some selling and I suppose I need to accept Pay Pal. This is where the questions arrise, I was thinking of starting a account with my bank(free checking acct) and having all pay pal trans put into that account, this way I can have easy access to the money via the checks. Does this sound like a good idea? Thanks for the imput.

You don't HAVE To accept PayPal. That's completely up to you. Accepting PayPal makes your auction a little more convenient, but you have to watch out for people that might try to scam you. Always ship to a CONFIRMED address (PayPal will notify you if payment is provided with an unconfirmed address).

PayPal really speeds up the closing times on auctions, but they take a chunk out of credit card purchases - but it is nice to have the money immediately so you can ship the stuff out right away and be done with it. I hate having to send a money order, so I tend to avoid those auctions. Also, unless it's an island in the Caribbean or something major, keep the auction length down to 3 or 5 days max.

I don't really see the need for a differnt bank acct. than you already have unless its for taxes? But yes having a pay-pal account really helps when selling. I just started accepting credit cards on my account and I'm not sure what the percentage is but I don't think it was too high? The great thing wih pay-pal is you can just leave the money there if you'd like. Like if your planning on buying some stuff you might wish to leave the money in your account...just my thoughts

Don't do the separate bank account - no need for it.

When you get hooked up with PayPal get the debit card. That way, you can get your money out with purchases or ATM use. I always use it for debit card purchases because they rebate 1.5% to me. It is just as convenient as transferring the PayPal dollars to my checking account (a little quicker in fact) plus the rebate helps offset the fees I pay to PayPal to accept credit cards.
