Finding Laser printer Quality.

need a new printer My Hp 812C is on its last leg...

I am thinking of going laser but not wanting to spend too too much maybe up to $250.00

also if like office depot has anything that is great $20.00 of of $50.00 in store.

Anyway i used it for just letters and mostly printing labels for cd's music and such,
It has to be good quality obviously. but no 1 ink cartridge. At least 2 and I think canon has each color seperated that is the best i think...

anyway please help me desperate need..

David,

What are you looking at for speed? If you are only interested in high quality prints, I would suggest an HP 5550. They are going for $150 at Circuit City or Office Depot both offering a $20 gift card for the purchase.

David:

I second Radar's emotion. I have a HP laser printer and it's paid for itself many times over! Nice printers. Mine happens to be a LaserJet 2100, but I've added additional trays for letterhead paper and plain paper.

If you are not bent on a laser printer and want very nice text quality, very high speed and color with ink that doesn't run when you spill water on the pages (4 separate cartridges I believe), check out the Epson Stylus C82 inkjet printer. The color is beautiful, the text is great, and USB 2.0 makes this an exceptionally fast printer.

Have a Panasonic KX-P6500, aka "Toaster". Love the fact it takes up so little room. Not sure if it's still available.

Is a bit finicky, won't allow the narrow margins the HP printers at work allow; when that happens, the printout goes bonkers. Print Optimization needs to be disabled (Win2K).

Anyway, if you come across one of these at a bargain price, buy it, take it home, plug it in, and let Win2K, WinXP find it and automatically install.
