I am a Cheapskate is why I do this.

I've been asked several times from knowledgeble members as to why I spend so much time on searching for deals.

I'm a cheap rascal and I "help" some friends to get machines too.

The work is monotonous[sp?] and terribly time consuming, I /we need all the assistance we can get. The web is a rather large place and each person can only cover so much ground.
It takes watching several "inidcator" sites all day long.
When someone puts an item up way below wholesale and limits it to "in-stock" only, the deal sells out in short order.

Thankfully, there are many, many dedicated members who assist Scott and this forum with selfless research daily to keep us abreast of daily hot items.

There are many thousands of visitors who do not post for many reasons.
Those who know of possible deals, please post away, then read the rules.
If ya break them by accident, no big deal, it takes 3 offenses to get shot !

j/k

Good Hunting

I try to post the deals when I see them. Unfortunatly when dealing with places like staples, BB, OM and OD seems that by the time I post the deal there out of stock. I would say BB is the worst on "Stock On Hand" as there never seems to be.
Anyhow I for one appreciate "your" section of this site and all to who have posted the deals a sincere "Thank You".

Your mention of Staples brings up a important tidbit.

Staples will often Restock and item after selling out, Buy.com does ths often with the Price Mistake of the Day.
Several times I've seen popular stuff sell out and reappear, sell out and reappear two or more times before selling out completely.

These stores stock merchandise "off shore" to avoid unfair US Inventory Tax.

So the supply comes from as far away as the Far East.

Check often on items of interest.
[usually limited to the first day of sellout]

I think most of the great deal are locally with rebates namely compusa, best buy, office depot, circuit city. problem is, by the time you get their, it's all gone or it only last for half a day, if you missed it oh well... maybe better luck next time. It take effort to save money, sometime well worth it because you went throught all the trouble for it, for the uninformed folk they most likely pay a premium price for it for convenient. I would greatly appreciated if someone know of a better deal for 120gb HD then the one i have posted.

Doc, cheap is just a bad word for frugal. And frugality, the last time I checked, is a virtue. You are revered where I work for your ability to alert us of great deals.

Call it what you will. Cheap, frugal, thrifty, whatever....

Helping people save money and get items they want in the process is a great service Doc. Though many of us have never said so before, we appreciate your efforts and the willingness to share your information.

So, add generous, selfless, and helpful to the names that people call you
