I buy lots of stuff with the rebates - and I always get my money, although it is not uncommon to wait three months or more for the check to arrive. Keep a list of all the rebates you send in, as well as when they are supposed to be received (they usually say 8 or 12 weeks) If the rebate check doesn't come on time, call the phone number they give you and complain. Often they'll give you some lame excuse like they sent it out but the post office returned it as undeliverable. Usually, once you complain the check arrives fairly soon.
Yes, it is a pain - but for certain things the savings are pretty big, and its worth the effort.
