Anyone bought a Western Digital hard drive only to find a larger than expected one?

I purchased a Western Digital hard drive here from a trader many of you already know-shahani. This guy's stuff is gold. He sold me an 80GB/2MB cache Western Digital hard drive still in the retail box except for the UPC code removed. It arrived today and instead of the 80GB it's a 100GB/2MB cache. PMd shahani and he didn't know why as he had never purchased that model but told me it was my gain and to enjoy. After doing a back-flip I wondered if anyone else had bought a WD HDD and found it to be larger than what was marked on the box. This is something you would definitely notice at checkout if it was your mistake due to the price difference. Could it be a B&M mistake marking the wrong boxes(seems unlikely with a barcode system) or Western Digital's mistake? Maybe they ran out of 80GB and filled an order substituting with the 100GB model. I don't know but I'm awfully happy-thanks Western Digital and thanks shahani!

Hey Chris,

Last year I bought a WD 18g 5400 in the proper retail box. When I opened it, it was a 20g 5400. I was happy, nice surprise. Check the retail papers in the box. Mine had a little note talking about the free upgrade. They probably do this when they change production lines but still have old orders to fill. I remember a thread where someone talked about this. Most of the time it is a pleasant surprise, but he already had one drive and was buying a second matching drive to do a raid setup.
