I wouldn't wait til after christmas because they might take the extra $100.00 off plus the free shipping. Unless you go the store to pick up and buy. The overall performance is great like I said earlier. I'm using my laptop to do video editing with Premiere and Pinncale studio 7. When capturing from my sony dcr27 with firewire cable into laptop it doesn't drop not one frame at all, which is great. I then make and edit the video with great results, and play it back with perfect results. The best thing is that it uses the P-4 2.0Ghz and not the P-4 mobile chip which is not as good as the regular P-4. The battery is great it lastes me about two hours under portable/laptop with the screen brightness set to middle. The screen is also great. Hope this helps, also the FSB on the motherboard is 400Mhz along with DDR ram it uses. The good thing is that it has its own memory for the video card which is 32mb, many other laptop share this with system ram which is not as good if you do high graphics or games.

Ok , Thanks... I think i'll go with a Gateway... One more question though... Whats the avg. Frames Per Second on the 400sp?

Have you guys seen the deal on the new gateways? Buy one of their laptops, or high end systems, and they GIVE you a low end system sans monitor! I'd say that's a helluva deal ( if you plan on spending $2300 minimum on a new desktop )

Yea... I saw it.. You have to buy either the most highest price laptop there and get the 300(?) Desktop free... But its a very good deal.. But the thing is .. Is that Desktop held down by just Onboard video and no AGP.. But its a 2.0GhZ Celeron

What do mean what is the frame rate, if you mean when runing programs like the DVD player, games, and the Video editing software its great no dropped frames. I have Iron Storm game loaded and I have the settings to very high in detail and shadows and its not slow at all.

Another thing is if you do go with the Gateway and get the one with 128mb ram, its cheaper to buy the ram upgrade some where else because they charge more. If you upgrade to 256mb they charge 100.00 more, but if get the laptop with the 128mb and buy a 256mb DDR at around 69.00 average price you end up with 384mb. Thats what I have on my 400sp by the way I get the memory for free from a friend, and will upgrade to 512mb next month when his back to work from the holidays.

Ok, Thanks for your help.... I kinda plan on useing this for Graphic editing and Gameint(Mohaa,UT2003,etc...) Should run great right?

It should run great with UT2003 and your video editing thats what I use it for and for my job I use the 400sp with me.

John Im not getting the deal... just a laptop... the 400sp... and the desktop is NOT free with that.
