I picked up one at Radio Shack for $39.95. I think Target may also sell it. Seems to have cut down on the calls ...

Do it yourself

Hey,

Instead of buying the Telezapper you can download a small .wav file from the net and play it on your answering machin before the greeting...

an article from wired

magazinehttp://www.wired.com/wired/archive/10.11/start.html?pg=9

I think the wav file is called sit.wav and you can search for it using google.

This won't be efffective if you pick up the phone... only in the answering machine so if you have caller i.d. just let it ring until the recorsing comes up...

The TeleZapper used to be 50 bucks, take it or leave it, everyplace. That seems to have moved down to $40, but I haven't found it cheaper anywhere.

I just skip the zapper and screen all calls, 24/7. The telemarketers seem to be getting the idea, my calls have dropped off dramatically over the past few months.

Is the telezapper the one that electronically takes you off their list? They do all seem to be about the same price. There's another one that just plays a message telling them to take you off if that'll work for ya, it's pretty cheap.

What about Privacy Manager? I know people who have went from this problem to virtually no telemarketers in days after getting that thing. Although... it is kind of a pain when you're on a pay phone and it picks up... or if you get a lot of calls from out of state it does it also.

Kind of annoying, but it will definately help.

The wave sound from above produces the first tone of the telephones "no service" tones. When the telemarketers automatic machine hears the tone it thinks it has found a number that isnt assigned to anyone and the telemarketers machine removes it from their lists.

The government might be stepping in by establishing a federal "no call list" that you can get on to keep them from calling you.

In Missouri we have a state no call list. My calls went to almost zero. Haven't had one in months. And if one calls, guess what I do? Act interested, get all their info, phone, company name, address, name of person speaking, etc. Then I call the Missouri State Attorney Generals No Call Complaint hotline!!! It's an 800 #. Give them the info, then about 2 weeks later I get a notice in the mail that they have taken action and if they were to call again let them know. Our state has actualy collected FINES!!!
Check out this link and scroll down to the moneys collected. MO No Call

Doesn't Georgia do it? I found this. GANOCALL

yea but it wont keep all of them from calling, its actually weaker than the state programs that are in place now, that for some reason is "unconstitutional" for the telemarketers...

you know what i say to them? **** YOU! if i want your products i will call you *** hole!
