I haven't heard back from the Cybikodev webmaster yet.

I have two email addresses. One, I use to communicate with friends and I do not post anything online with this email address. The second email address is used for posting on newsgroups. The names I use in my email addresses and usernames are cryptic. They do not reflect any part of my name. People have tough times remembering them, but I don't want someone to track me because I posted something meaningful and controversial (sp?) on a newsgroup. Also, never link phone number to email address.

I don't think it is easy to remove the details once it becomes public. Without creating much attention to already existing posts, I think JnMHayes should try to change his username to something unrelated to his name and use an alternate email address for all future public postings. Usually, the old postings fade away into background.

I second screens idea: get a yahoo address for spammers to trash. Thousands of people have done this. Submit the yahoo address to forums you join. Beware of difficulties if you need to switch email accounts. I have 4 email accounts active, and have closed 6 others due to various problems.

Somebody, somewhere could argue that a dog tag which shows a telephone number is also considered as being made public: it is clearly listed on a publicly accessable dog which is wearing the dogtag that has the telephone number. Here is one angle: "Hey! That's a Belgian Shepard... I wonder if the owner wants to know about hip dysplasia in large breed dogs. I could call them and offer to sell the information I already learned...".

Sure, some dogs won't tolerate a stranger holding its dog tags, but even that is iffy. Bottom line for me is that when slime wants to acquire information, slime figures out how to do it, one way or another.
