ebay and paypal

ok I have a few questions about ebay and paypal..

I've never sold anything online before, but is paypal a decent way for people to pay you? I know I've heard of problems in the past with them.. but I really don't know of any other way to get my money once things sell other than the buyer sending me a check in the mail. I'm going to be out of town for a month with internet connection and had a few things I wanted to sell. I just won't beable to get to my bank, so I was hoping to use paypal or something like it.. any sugestions?

the other question is for ebay.. anyone know how to find out you're old user name? the only options are for lost passwords and not lost user names.... I've tried resigning up but it won't let me because it says my e-mail allready has an account..which I do, I just can't remember the username.

I've used PayPal for a couple of years for thousands of dollars in transactions with no problems. I have heard horror stories about problems with people sending money with stolen credit card numbers though...

You will have to log into your account and transfer the $$ to you bank. The sellers can only send it to your paypal account. I also use C2it as it is free to transfer money and you don't get charged a fee, and not had one problem with them and I have had so big transfers using it. I had a problem were someone retreived my password to my paypal account and tried cleaning my bank account out but my bank reversed the transaction so I got my money back. It took paypal 3 months to sort the thing out after 6 phone calls and countless emails.

Well, yes and no. People send money to your PayPal account (instantly). You log on to PayPal and transfer the money into your bank account (1 or 2 days).

*edit*
LOL, MDS beat me to it - slow typing?

One caveat to watch out for... depending on the type of PayPal account you have (personal, premier, or business) you might get charged per transaction. This tells you about the types of accounts and has a link to the fees they charge:

I'm in the c2it crowd. After having PayPal lock me out of a couple thousand dollars of my own money, being forced to give them large amounts of personal information in a short time period, and getting no explanation for the episode has made me decide that dealing with a real bank is a good idea.

C2it is run by Citibank, which gives you some insurance and assurance as to the quality of the people behind it.
