With free Winamp2.x working fairly sweet, why buy?

Uh... dunbar, did you go to the linked page? He's talking about a hardware MP3 player, not software.

Mainly for portable use.
My wife and I commute an hour each way....
Would make time fly!

That seems like a pretty nice one, I saw an article where they compared the Archos Jukebox to the iPod, and while the iPod was overall "better," they couldn't justify the increase in features for the increase in price.

www.overstock.com has some cheap models not as good as the Archos but they may do the job.

Because instead of solid state flash memory (expensive), it simply has a smally notebook hard drive in it (much cheaper). This does make it larger, use more battery juice, and possibly skip (I think it has something like 10 minutes anti-skip though). However, it holds 100 times more music too.

Sam,
How would a mp3 skip?
Sorry if this sounds stupid.
