Avicus is on a distinguished road

For those of us that know LOTR is the best work of fiction in existence, does anybody know a cheap place to buy the upcoming dvd release? The "platinum series extended edition," or some such non-sense. The lowest I've found so far is 25.99 at amazon.com; does anyone have coupons?

Save us money! Free the hobbits!

When does the new DVD come out?
I've been holding out for so long for this thing to come out...

I'll probably just run to Best Buy or something and pick it up.
Although, Amazon.com really does ROCK! I've bought so many things from them, and have never had one problem.

I'm not sure why people don't wait until the third part is released in 2003. What good is a "boxed collector's set" if it doesn't contain all 3 episodes?

Normally I'd agree with you, but this platinum version has a ton of extras in it. Including a version of the movie with a lot of extra footage in it... something big LOTR fans will love (myself included )
26 bucks for the platinum version does look like a great deal... we probably won't see it much cheaper than that...

well this boxed collectors set is made like a book.. so will the next I believe.. so when u r done u can place all 3 on the shelf.. and it will look like you have 3 books in your dvd collection =)

plus the collectors edition is going to have nice book ends in it.. which is something I want.. I have over 130 dvds in my collection.. and next week this one will join it.. season 2 of Star Gate just joined my collection =)

also Cad you should know the collectors set is 4 cds.. not 1 or 2.. I've waited a few months for this edition.. and when the towers dvd comes out this time next year.. I will wait for the collectors set of that one as well.. =)

I realise all that stuff, but I'm still gonna wait.

1. I'll see all three at the theatre first anyhow.

2. The set they release in 2004 will make the DVD's of book 1 & 2 obsolete anyhow so you'll have to buy them again to get the very best set.

3. I'm a big LOTR fan, but I'm also a big cheapskate sometimes
