Kids Becomming a Reseller

Hi,

I was thinking about starting a home business and decided i wanted to get into reselling computer parts. Could someone point me in the right direction, in terms of the process of becoming a reseller? I was thinking about starting a computer fan reselling business. How much start up capital should i expect to use?

Thank you

I'm looking at selling CPU fans and case fans. I'm looking at these three brands, Evercool, Vantec and Panasonic Panaflo

well i am not sure, I guess your research should start out with is getting in contact with vendors and see what the bulk cost will be to you and then get quotes on cost of running a business web site that can be used with a secure webserver or whatever so people can buy online and all the other expenses.

I'd start out with doing some serious research to see what kind of start up cost you know you will run into in the beginning and also figuring out what shipping rates and cost will be for the reselling of the items. Then advertising to get your site known and such.

im not the expert here, but I would suggest doing some research into your business venture before spending your investment on the business.

maybe someone else will come along with some better advise.

Welcome to TechIMO.

The first thing you have to do to become a reseller is get a business liscence. This is usually done through the state. I know I paid about 200 bucks to become a corporation and get my licesne. Distributors won't resell to you, without this info. They need to make sure your really a buesniess just not a end-user.

where can i find information on obtaining a resellers license? I read on another site that you get an ID after you receive your license which will allow you to buy from distributors. Where can i find contact information from distributors?

I think that this is an excellent idea. There is definately a niche for extreme specialization of computer parts. Fans are a great choice. The inventory is static and there are lots and lots of choices out there, of which no one is offering all of them. It could get a bit expensive carrying all of the Zalman fans if you decide to sell those.
I currently buy for the company that I work for and I can get you in touch with some specific people at a couple of wholesalers if you wish, but you'll need to have a reseller permit to gain access to pricing.
