"I would have opted for the Asus nForce @ Newegg for $71 shipped...if you have PC2100 RAM. Great onboard audio, 10/100 LAN, and not to shabby Geforce2 onboard (with an AGP4XPro slot of course)." -LarrySamDavid25

Nice board I have ordered two myself

Hey all!
I got my new mobo today and it looks nice!

After a couple hours of MEGA frustration JoePa is back up and running!!!
(I had both my HDDs running as primary on same IDE and both CD drives running as slaves... I realized in my previous setup I had one HD and one CD drive on an IDE... But I setup the new mobo with both HDDs on one ide, and the same with the CD drives. Once I got the jumpers switched I was in like Flynn!

Thanks again for all the help! Everything seems to be running AOK.. only my monitor 's refresh rates are screwed up or something... slight distortion. I'm going to play around with the video drivers to see if I can't get it corrected.

psu2fan, I have a quick question.
Once you replaced your motherboard, did you end up reinstalling windows?
Nice choice by the way, very nice board.

Hi sven.
No I have not reinstalled windows, it wasn't necessary. But I plan on doing that early next week when I have more free time. I figure it can't hurt and can only help my systems performance. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here so I'm going to take their advice

Yeah I really like the board, it has almost a dark turquoise color.... it'll look snazzy when I get a windowed case and some blue lights!

Can you tell me what type of problems if any your MB was showing before it dies on you? We are having probs with ours and Biostar seems to be giving me the run around. My PC just reboots whenever it feels like it.

I didn't have any problems before it went, I think it may have simply been a bad weld in my case. I don't know a whole lot about Mboards, only that restarts could be due to a bad video card, unseated RAM, or even a bad connection with the restart button.
Is there any pattern to the restarts (ie. specific programs??)

Once you do the fresh install, image the C: drive. Nothing beats being able to do a total restoration if something goes down wrong on down the line.

Nice board. Personally. I'm looking for an nForce2 board, but waiting for the intros and revisions to shake out first. These boards will run TBreds and Bartons. The Opterons, or Hammers are a different story, though. They will require a different board, and indeed the board manufacturers have boards ready and waiting on AMD. They may have to do some revisions though...
I'm thinking AMD is altering some things, though no I don't have any source for that. Just my thoughts.

PSU2Fan.......

I have just installed an ATI Raedon 7200 video card and we thought that was the prob and we took it out and loaded our old G-Force and it still rebooted. We have changed out RAM, low level reformatted, and changed the CPU fan. We thought it almost seemed to reboot when there was more than one thing open at a time, but ruled that out. Sometimes it restarts before windows loads all the way, sometimes when signing onto AOL, checking e-mail, opening programs, or trying to play a dvd. So, it seems to be random restarts.
Waiting on Biostar to get back to me again.......we have really troubleshooted this and all we can see now is the board itself.

Yeah, it prolly is the board then. It sounds like you've changed out all the major hardware, with only the board left.

If you're up for replacing your board, check out the link to motherboards.org above and also www.anandtech.com

They've got reviews of a good number of boards. I'm not sure of your computer experience, but if you feel comfortable enough to change out your board, it's really easy. I was amazed at how quickly I was up and running.

I swear though, if I had the money, I'd get a mac. Grew up on them and only sold out when I was on my own and didn't have the cash.
