About rebates - Rebate Reciept = cash register reciept?
I sent in a rebate for some CD-rs I bought with a rebate reciept. However, I got it sent back to me saying It didnt include the cash register reciept, but I thought the "rebate reciept" included the "cash register reciept". On the top of the rebate receitp, it showed emplyee #, date, time, store #, register #, and the purchase + serial + price. Doesn't this constitute the rebate receipt? I thought the reason they print out rebate reciepts was so that you can file your cash register receipt and just send them the rebate receipt, and that was the reason they include the transaction info on the top of the rebate receipt.
I normally save my receipts, but I sent the cash register receipt for another rebate off the same purchase, so I cant get that back.
I guess what I'm asking is did the person who open this one goof and didnt know that rebate receipts were acceptable? or am I the goof because I actually needed the rebate receipt as well as the other receipt? If they goofed, ill just send the same material back in and see what happens. If I did, then I'll just take the 10 buck hit and take it as a lesson learned.

Many of the rebates I applied for asked specifically to include a copy of the cash register receipt. I remember to have sent copies of cash receipts for all my rebates.

most rebates require (or say the do anyway) the orginal cash register recipt to be valid. Also alot of times if you are making multiple purchases... i.e 2 100 spindle packs of CDr's and you are going to claim rebate on both you better get them on seperate receipts and you better list them from two different addresses. Thats why I hate dealing with mail in rebates not only do they take forever to process and get your money back they also tend to deny you over the smallest little things. The whole idea for manufactures doing rebates is that they figure that 80 to 90% or the people will not bother or forget to send in the rebate stuff, and of the small amount that do 50 to 60% will not follow the directions and give them an excuse to deny the rebate meaning the really only have to give out rebates on 3 to 5% or so of their total sales. Make sure you have every i dotted and every T crossed when you are doing rebates don't get lazy and expect that they are just going to except it I am telling you from experience they will deny your rebate if they can find a reason to.
The worst are the ones that deny your rebate but never tell you that they did so you wait and wait but hear nothing back.

I wouldnt feel so bad if I didnt sent the receipt for a $1.50 rebate for a 3pk of pens!
Ah well..I just did the equivalent of throwing a $10 bill into the recycle bin.
It wont happen again... .

Rebate Receipt, like what Best Buy issues, is a duplicate/reprint of the cash receipt as well as has space to put in your name/address.
In this case, they goofed and you should send the receipt and enclosures back. The cash receipt in such cases is for a record in case the item is defective and you need to exchange.

Almost never do they require the original receipt, only the original UPC code. But the rebate slip is not a receipt since it doesn't have the transaction details printed on it.
I always err on the side of sending in too much. Always ask, "What should I send in to ensure the idiots on the other end know for sure I sent everything in."

Wait...so it should work!. all the transaction detail is on the top of my "rebate reciept". What do you all say? dig it out of the recycle or leave it to cycle again?
Im basically making a 37c bet that I'm gunna get 10 bucks. I think I'll just get it back again though, or never see my $10 anyways.

Call the store and ask to speak to the manager about it. What you have should be fine. Make sure you write down the name of the manager.
You could even call the number given on the rebate slip and talk to someone there about it. Often, they will allow you to resubmit by fax, then you know for sure they got it and will put it through.
I'd fax something for $10.
