PII 333, what's it worth?

I have a Compaq PII 333, 6GB Hdd, (Can add another 6gigger) 128mb pc100 Ram. Maxtor 4mb video card. Santa Cruze Sound Card, NIC, CD-rom, and floppy.
It's just sitting in my bedroom. Any suggestion on the value of it?
I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet.

Thanks

-Upinya

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

But seriously , you could make a Linux box. You could make a jukebox,12 gb is a lot of tunes. As far as how much in $$ I don't know maybe $100. If your main pc was on the fritz it would be "Priceless". Then you could still get to TechIMO!!

Hello Upinya

I’d agree with the other fellow’s comment, about $100, but I don’t know who would buy it. For $550, one can buy Celeron system with fair amount of goodies and have a year warranty to go with it. I think it would be a good idea to either recycle it or just hang on to it as a backup in case your #1 machine goes crazy. It is a bitter pill, what to do with an old computer you paid a lot of money for that is now very much obsolete. If your modem gets zapped by lightning, you could steal the modem out of your old machine. Maybe the sound card in a pinch. Just don’t haul it to the city land fill as that is not good. best regards.

For 550 you can build yourself quite a nice system or buy a P4 1.7Ghz for under 400 dollars excluding the monitor... Just saw an ad for a few systems under 400 yesterday on the papers...

Totally depends on where you live etc. Once again we see our "informed internet shoppers" bias coming into play.

That system you list.....you could sell it for 350 or so easily IMO.

REMEMBER not everyone uses the internet, not everyone KNOWS you can build a blah blah speedy system for x amount of case.

Some peeps only know brand names etc. many many systems way slower/older than yours will be sold this month. Where I used to work....we couldnt keep P1 systems enough to sell cuz peeps would knock each other over to buy them at $199 minimum price.

Im talkin P1, 32M, 2Gig hd, 15" monitor.

So I think you could reinstall windows maybe, get everything working good...sell it for $300 or so.

heck man..thats fast enough to add a burner too...get you a $20 or $30 burner (easy to do with rebates etc from staples etc)...throw the burner in there...put ad in paper or elsewhere...pull $350 easy. Sneak into a big church and put you a flyer on the wall.

NO it AINT gonna sell on ebay for that much or in this forum...BUT in your local paper...probably...especially if you offer to deliver/set up/ give free 1 hr lesson. Lots of peeps have money but have a mental block "Id like a comp but I dont know how to do anything with one..id be lost"...so offer to help 'em get going..easy sale.

Easy money.

Sure would mike a nice emulator machine (games that is, not sat).

You could play a lot of games on 6 or 12 gigs. MAME, NES, SNES, GENESIS, ATARI 2600; I think you could fit ALL those on 12 gigs.

Oh, but only if you own all the carts, cuz otherwise, that may not be considered legal, even though copyrights were designed to prevent profit loss due to piracy, and none of those consoles are currently supported in todays market...oh, I'll shut up now. Don't want to start some silly argument over some silly rules.

Compaq

Sounds like a good system for a older "newbie". Good to start surf'n the web with. My daughter is networked with a 400 Celeron and it books along just fine
