Mad at CompUSA
I got my GeForce3 Ti500 in from Compusa in yesterday. Well today I open it up and it of course is an OEM version, not that I really care. However the drivers CD I got with it was an Iomega CD-R that they had burned an old (20.94??) version of the Nvidia drivers onto. This just seemed kinda shady to me. I know CompUSA is a big store and all and I am happy with the card, but a burned CDR??? I would rather have had no CD at all. Plus they said it would ship in 48 hours and it took more than twice that ... Not a great expeirence with CompUSA

That is rather odd, sounds like a possible return/repackage/re-sell type of transaction in regards to CompUSA. I have never received a generic CD-R with any of my numerous OEM and retail video card purchases.
Anyway, since you seem satisfied with the card, the original card manufacturer will often ship you a new CD if you call its customer service department.
BTW, thanks for the info, as I will now be checking my CompUSA purchases much closer.

I honestly didn't even need the CDR as I had already downloaded the newest Nvidia drivers, but a CDR was defiently not what I was expecting ... and after reading some stuff at Resellerratings .. I am lucky I got it at all.

I guess its possible, it was package like it was new though, in that the OEM box was orginal and the OEM static bag was new. I wouldn't mind taking it back, but I got it online via their website and I don't relish the process of returning it.

That should not be, they should have a disk. unfortunatly you will not miss much. They usually have demo's, which you can get at at the nvidia site. The disk is usually loaded with a bunch of crap, that will never get used. Though, I have seen some come with pretty good stuff, like game demos to games.
Take it back and don't take there crap.

Since the card works, I wouldn't worry about it, unless perhaps the disk featured a desired application, such as DVD/MPEG-2 playback software that you would otherwise have to purchase seperately.
Still, I would probably send an email to CompUSA describing your concerns so this hopefully does not happen to others.

How moch was the card? If it was considerably less than you could get it elsewhere, why return it? I agree with RobRich, just send them an email and say why you didn't like there service, etc.
Some components I have ordered from various websites including, newegg, tcwo, office depot, have enclosed cd-rs of the software/drivers. I mean, if you're wanting everything that comes with a retail vid card, then just go buy a retail vid card.
I figure, you save money, and they save money.
Just my 2 cents.

I don't think I am missing any software, I have DVD laying software so thats not a big deal, I will email them and let them know I was dissapointed. I mean I only paid 80 bucks for a Geforce3 Ti500 64mb so I can't complain.
