Newegg RMA

IF I want to have something exchanged, does the item and all its contents have to be in PERFECT (MINT) condition? I have a CPU that doesn't work, which has a lot of thermal paste on it. I can't seem to get all of it off. Also the plastic encasing is bent on the corners from where I tried to open it.

Note that I want to have it exchanged, not refunded.

Thanks

I would contact Newegg. Since it is an exchange, I don't see why they would have a problem. Though this leads to a question, is your processor OEM or Retail?

If OEM there is a finite number of days that you can exchange the processor ranging from 15 days~60. I am not sure of Newegg, but I think it may be 15 days. You would have to check their return policy.

With retail, you do have a 3 year warranty even after the *15day grace. If you are over that grace period with Newegg, you can contact the vendor (AMD or Intel) whichever you purchased.

As far as paste and packaging, you wouldn't know it was bad unless you used it, so I am sure the vendor would know that there would be some residue and damaged packaging.

Hope that helps!

Whether he read it or no makes no difference at this point. He had to actively agree to the terms in the process of check-out. Usually you have 10-15 days from the invoice/shipping date to return a DOA OEM CPU. If it IS an OEM, you may be SOL.

Nah, I don't think you need to worry about a little thermal grease on a CPU. But you'll want to go here to see if you can still RMA it.
